High performance I.C. engine assembly - has cylinder sleeve upwardly urged by pair of cooperating rings

The cylinder sleeve has upper and lower sealing rings in contact with cylinder head and crankcase respectively and defines two outer cooling liquid chambers, separated by a restricted passage through the sleeve. Below the lower sealing rings opposed shoulders on crankcase and sleeve are separated by the two spring steel-rings. These rings have wedge sections with cooperating inclined faces which allow relative sliding and urge the sleeve upwardly to ensure contact between cylinder head and a sealing ring on the upper radial face of the sleeve.
