The sequence is supplied to a demultiplexer, with the first output terminal of the latter connected to a multi-stage binary register. Comparator circuits are each connected to a respective further output terminal of the demultiplexer and to the register output stage, so as to correlate the demultiplexer outputs, in accordance with a given polynomial.
