The pigeon is released by the interruption of a beam between an emitter and a receiver, caused by a predetermined movement of the marksman with his rifle - typically the movement can consist in him raising it to his shoulder after loading it while it is pointing downwards. The orientation and trajectory at which the clay pigeon is launched can be varied from a remote point, and can be oscillated automatically. This oscillation ensures that successively launched pigeons are released in opposed directions.
