In shop display stand shelf is generally secured by screw or notch action. A cheaper method requires only an elastic ring which is housed in the central opening of the shelf sliding up and down the vertical columns. Under the weight of the articles displayed, elastic deformation tightens the grip of the ring around the column preventing the shelf falling. The column can be square or circular in section and fixing can be at any desired height the ring being mounted within a tubular extension of the shelf.
