The device consists of a flake of absorbent material absorbing nasal secretion during a head cold, and avoiding irritation by, on insertion to the nostril, directly sucking up the corrosive liquid. It can be of radial structure, i.e. with all fibres oriented towards the periphery, and can be used for all other kinds of absorption also. It will often arrest a cold in a few hours by its action on the mucous membranes. It can be so constructed as to allow breathing, and supplied in containers with separate compartments for new and used items.
