A conveyor belt or chain 11 provided with rod or barshaped entrainment means 24 is provided in the conveyor chute 8 and carries the stones to a discharge pipe 16. The rotatable spiral elevator 3 carries the centrifugal disc 17 at its lower end. The screen 18 is composed of spaced upright rods which allow passage of stones but retain the tuberous roots. The disc 17 is provided with holes 26 through which fine particulate material can pass.
