A cam operated switch 8 on the conveyer drive sprocket is used in conjunction with the detector 9 to operate electric control circuits located within the casing of the device 7 to operate the stamp. By using positive imaged stamps-which may be self-inking or inked from a suitable inking device-on the internal surface of a transparent material the details of the contents of the egg box may be readily ascertained from the outside.
