1339792 Ladder rungs RAILRIGHT (UK) Ltd 14 Jan 1972 [14 Jan 1971] 1969/71 Heading E1S A rung 10 is secured to stiles 15 of a ladder by a pair of support plates 12, each of which bears against a stile and has an annular flange 13 forming a socket to receive an end of the rung and is secured by bolts 16 inserted through the stile and engaging a backing plate 17. A safety rod 18 is also inserted through the plates 12, 17 and the stiles, below the rung. The rung is prevented from rotating in the sockets, (a) by having a flattened surface portion or portions which co-operate with corresponding flattened portions of the flange 13, or (b) by projections or serrations on the inner surface of the flange 13, or (c) by a pin inserted transversely through the rung and the flange 13.
