1342200 Extruding SCHLOEMANN AG 26 June 1972 [30 June 1971] 29818/72 Heading B3P A horizontal extrusion press, has a pivoted shoot 9 whose end is moved adjacent the extrusion axis to receive a butt discard which is cut-off from the extruded product by a blade 7 after the press container has been withdrawn from the die holder 4. The shoot is pivoted by a pneumatic piston-cylinder unit 11 which acts on a tubular mounting 10 on one of the press columns 1. The mounting 10 is movable axially along the column with the container. Thd blade may be a shear actuated by a piston-cylinder unit 8 or a saw. The die holder 4 is a slide guided by guides 3 on the back platen 2 of the press and actuated by one or more piston-cylinder units 5. When the discard is cut-off the shoot is moved downwards by the blade acting on the discard against spring-bias or the resilience of the pneumatic unit 11.
