QUICK-COUPLING DEVICE FOR THE LINKING OF AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS TO A TRACTOR

1349767 Tractor hitches J GAIL 12 Oct 1971 [26 Oct 1970 6 July 1971] 47516/71 Heading A1P A quick-coupling device for the linking of an agricultural implement to a tractor comprises coupling horns mounted by ball joints on the lower links of the tractor three-point linkage and provided with directing faces, and coupling eyes adapted to be disposed on the implement, the coupling of horns and eyes being rigid and being secured by retainers. In one embodiment a horn 15 (Fig. 5) held in an upward inclination by a weight 33, carries a lever 17 mounted on a pivot 31. The eye 21 (Fig. 10) mounted on the implement 19 has inner faces 22 which match the outer faces of the horn 15 when in the coupling position. In the coupling operation the horn 15 is placed under the eye 21 and lifted up; the long arm 29 of the lever 17 passes through a vertical slot 32, followed by the draft link 13; on full engagement of the coupling parts the shorter arm 30 of the lever 17 is swung by the weight of the longer arm 29 over a locking surface 24 at the top of the eye 21. To uncouple the implement the longer arm 29 may be swung upwards by means of a cable line within reach of the driver. In a second embodiment, shown in Fig. 13, the locking lever 114 has a pivot 115 and is held in the locking position by a spring 116, withdrawal from that position being effected by a ducted cable line 117. The rectangular coupling eye 118 carries a bush 120 with a locking surface 122 on the outside. The bush 120 is slipped over the usual coupling spigot present on the implement and secured there by a pin 124a which passes through a hole in the spigot and through two slots 121 in the bush. This arrangement allows the eye 118 to swing on the spigot, so as to be downwardly inclined prior to coupling, to facilitate the coupling. This may instead be achieved by the provision of eccentric drillings in the wall of the bush 120 and a sickle-shaped recess in the spigot which allows play of the pin. The spigot may be drilled together with the bush 120.
