The needle bar 1 is secured to levers 2 mounted on needle bar shaft 5 by means of eccentric bushes 4. The bar is reciprocated vertically by rod 3, and rocked by the shaft 5 via linkage 6-9 from machine drive shaft 10. The guide bar 12 is rocked by rod 11 mounted on shaft 5 with the interposition of eccentrics 4'. The sinker 'bar 26 is fixed to a lever 25 and rocked by lever 19 via a link 27. The lever 19 is rocked by both the needle bar shaft 5 and the machine drive shaft 10 - see Figure 2.
