1372093 Travelling-wave tubes VARIAN ASSOCIATES 8 Oct 1971 [16 Nov 1970] 47025/71 Heading H1D A coalesced-mode coupled-cavity slow-wave structure of a travelling-wave tube has two opposed and axially aligned sets of coupling slots 7 and 18, respectively, formed in the common end walls of the cavities. Preferably the slots are dimensioned to produce a slat mode pass-band low frequency edge which coalesces with the cavity mode pass-band high frequency edge. In an alternative embodiment, the cavity end walls are square and the slots rectilinear (Fig. 6, not shown).
