A vertical-indicating pendulum for use in a metering device with reference to gravitational reference direction, comprising a mass suspended from a support by a flexible suspender and an arm which is stationary relative to the support and engages the suspender at an intermediate point between the support and mass while causing the suspender to bear the entire weight of the mass, whereby the period of the natural vibration of the pendulum is reduced.
