Cellular concrete based on a precursor contg. calcium oxide and allowing independent control of the max. temp. reached by the concrete paste and the total amount calcium (as oxide and hydroxide), whereby some of the CaO is hydrated and the amount of Ca(OH)2 is chosen as a function of the max. temp. and of the desired amount of Ca and oxide and hydroxide on Ca. In warm climates, mixing of calcium oxide bearing concretes does not have to be curtailed due to overshooting of the temp. limit of the concrete mix. Hardening can be effected by autoclaving.
