Tubes for use in the chemical industry or laboratory operations, esp. for contg. clinical biological cells, are characterised by the longitudinal part of the tube being provided with a side nozzle on which a seal can be placed. The nozzle enables substances to be added to the tube when it is in a horizontal position. When the tube consists of glass, the nozzle can be heat sealed, opened by breaking and resealed with a stopper. When the tube consists of glass, the nozzle is sealed with a rubber stopper. A support of polystyrene for use with the tubes, in order to avoid successive manipulations of each tube, has a part of parallelepiped shape in which are moulded cells that exercise a grip on the tubes, while allowing easy access to the nozzles. The support is provided with metallic feet at its corners.
