A fluid feed (or treatment) device for yarns includes a duct having an oblong cross section and a slot extending along its length and through which the yarn can be introduced laterally into the duct. The cross-sectional area of the dust increases towards the downstream end, and at the upstream end are provided two inlet nozzles whose axes pref lie parallel to the axis of the duct and through which fluid can be fed into the duct from a main fluid inlet pipe so that the fluid advances the yarn along the duct. Where the fluid is press. air the device may be used as a pneumatic gun for transferring e.g. yarn from a full to an empty bobbin. The fluid may alternatively be a dye (pref. vapour) or coating agent whereby the yarn is treated whilst also being advanced. The device is easy to operate, quiet, can advance the yarn at high speeds and has olow energy consumption.
