Method of firing a charge of ceramic products in the firing chamber of an intermittent furnace is claimed in which the products to be dried are arranged in several stacks spaced along the length of a given direction in the furnace, while, during the heating cycle, gas is circulated in the given direction from one end of the enclosure to the other, while carrying a heat flow of variable intensity, perpendicularly to this direction and at the intervals separating the stacks from each other and from the end walls of the chamber. Improved convection of the gas is obtd. and reproducibility and uniformity of product firing is more nearly approached.
