The sliding element moves along a guide rail and carries the control device which projects beyond the side guides of the sliding element. The control device has a roller which senses the position of the sliding element and is wound with a cable whose ends are tensioned and attached to the rail. The axis of rotation of the roller is inclined with respect to the central guide plane of the sliding element so that the roller extends under the projecting part of the side guides of the sliding elements. The cable thus passes quite near the central guide plane. The rail is fixed to a protection wing which extends between the cable and the projecting part of the side guides.
