1460345 Feeding sheets GESTETNER Ltd 17 Jan 1975 [24 Jan 1974] 03277/74 Heading B8R A pile 16 of sheets is supported at an angle to the horizontal with the lower edges of the sheets supported on a surface 20 of a guide 9 and with the lower face of the pile supported on a surface 6 of a plate 2, a friction separator roller 12 forming an exit throat with the surface 20, and the surface 6 being inclined to the surface 20 at an obtuse angle which includes the roller 12. The plate 2 carries at its lower end rollers 3 supported on the guide 9, and at its upper end is formed with cam members 4 having cam surfaces 24 supported on rollers 5 at the upper end of an arm 25 pivoted at a, whereby the pile is urged towards the roller 12 by gravity. The lower end of the arm 25 is held against an eccentric 7 by a spring 8. As the pile diminishes, the obtuse angle increases by an amount adjustable by rotating the eccentric 7 according to the properties of the sheets. The width of the exit throat is adjustable by rotating an eccentric 10 to move the guide 9 about a pivot b, according to the thickness of the sheets, a spring 11 allowing inadvertent double feed without damage to the apparatus.
