A PROCESS FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF 2,2-DISUBSTITUTED-3,4-DIPHENYLCHROMANS

We claim:   1. A process for the preparation of the compounds of the formula 2 or 3 given in Fig. 2, wherein R is lower alkyl, B" and R"" may be hydroxy, chloro, fluoro, trifluoromethyl, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or tertiary amino lower alkoxy groups, comprising reacting compound of the formula 1of Fig, 2, wherein R, R" and R"" are as defined above, with B- chloroethyl pyrroli-dine in a ketonic solvent in presence of an acid binding agent to obtain a compound of the formula 2 shown in Fig, 2; if desired isomerising the compound of formula 2 shown in Fig. 2, to a compound of formula 3 shown in Fig. 2, with a strong base in an aprotic solvent.
