Mechanism for feeding and fixing the cores of a lacing system forming memory core matrices. It consists of a shaft (1) with a longitudinal slot (2) which grips the core (3) stacked on wires (5). Tehre are circumferential cut outs (6) along the length of the shaft, at right angles to the slot. The cut outs are wide enough to engage the bottom cores in the stack (4). The depth of the cut out is greater than that of the slot. This means that the base (8) of the longitudinal slot and the sidewalls of the cut out will form stops (7) to prevent the core taken up in the longitudinal slot from being displaced along the length of the slot.
