Roll stand bearing adjusting and preloading arrangement - has preloading rods and spring loaded double nuts

The rolling stand has one pair of roll neck bearings for supporting a pair of rolls and an arrangement for moving the roll neck bearings relative to each other in order to adjust the relative position of the rolls to compensate for the roll diameter changes or to adjust the gap between the rolls. The bearing has a preloading threaded rod which is screwed into two separate nuts, one supported by a spherical seat. A compression spring is placed between the end flange of the bearing and the other nut. Rotation of the spindle results in a vertical movement of the bearing block for adjusting the position of the gap between the rolls. The springs are used for preloading the rods in order to eliminate play.
