1447437 Continuous casing SCHLOEMANNSIEMAG AG 7 June 1974 [9 June 1973] 25504/74 Heading B3F A continuous casting mould 9 is carried by a carrier 2, journalled by trunnions 3 on a support frame 1, so that it can be swung up (by an hydraulic device 5) about the axis of 3 to carry the mould 9 out of casting position as indicated in chain lines (it bears a spherical abutment 6 normally resting a plate 7 where it is located by a pin 8) there being also an oscillatory drive 16 on the frame 1 from which a push rod 15 extends to a pivot P on an oscillating lever 12 mounted by a pivot fulcrum 13 on the carrier 2 and connected to the mould 9 to reciprocate it; the position of the pivot P in relation to the axis 3 is such that the mould can be stopped at a selected position within its reciprocation stroke so that when the mould carrier 2 is swung up, any displacement of the mould 9, relative to the carrier due to displacement of the lever 12 because of the swing, is within the stroke of the mould. The arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), may be such that, during the throw of the pivot P with oscillation, it passes through the axis of the carrier trunnions 3 so that the drive 16 can be stopped when the pivot is coaxial with the axis and consequently there should be no movement of the mould 9 relative to the carrier 2. In Fig. 1 the pivot P is between the axis 3 and the fulcrum pivot 13 of the oscillating lever 12 so that the throw of the pivot is above the axis. In Fig. 3, the axis 3 is between the pivot P 1 and the fulcrum 13, and when P 1 is at its bottom dead centre as shown and the carrier 2 is swung up, it moves to P 1 SP1/SP and the mould 9 correspondingly moves through a distance α relative to the carrier and back again.
