The cationic starch derivative preferably contains the cation: where R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkene, aryl and aralkyl groups and wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 together have a total of not more than 22 carbon atoms. The preferred cationic lubricant is bis-[beta-3-(2-heptadecylimidazolyl)ethyl]amine: and the composition may optionally include a nonionic lubricant, a nonionic lubricant emulsifier and a humectant, the nonionic lubricant preferably being an animal, vegetable or mineral wax or gelled oil which is a non-liquid at room temperature.
