The web is releasably held in the coiled position by a layer or patches of adhesive 30. Alternatively, the carrier web may be folded against itself in zig-zag form as in Fig. 3, the least compressible layer here being formed medially at 46 in the web. Perforations allow the web to be torn off adjacent each article.
