1444462 Treatment of proliferating skin diseases with acyl derivatives of cyclic adenosine monophosphate J J VOORHEES 14 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973 17 Dec 1973] 1738/74 Heading A5B Proliferating skin diseases in non-human animals, e.g. atopic dermatitis and mange in domesticated animals, are treated by the administration to the animal of a composition comprising, as active ingredient, a compound of the formula: wherein R, and R, are the same or different and are each hydrogen, benzoyl, adamantane carboxylate or an acyl radical of an aliphatic carboxylic acid having from 2 to 18 carbon atoms, with the proviso that they are not both hydrogen, or a pharmacoligically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, in association with a pharmaceutical carrier. The active ingredient is preferably N6-21-O-dibutyryl cyclic AMP. The compositions may be administered topically, orally, parenterally or rectally in the form of ointments, lotions, pastes, jellies, sprays, aerosols, bath oils, suppositories, tablets, capsules, pills, powders, granules, sterile parenteral solutions or suspensions, oral solutions or suspensions, emulsions, syrups and elixirs. The compositions may also contain a glucocorticoid e.g. hydrocortisone, methyl prednisolone acetate or triamcinolone.
