Dry heat dyeing/printing organic materials - dyeable with cationic dyes, using cationic dyestuff salts of (in)organic acids of pKs value greater than 3

Pref. salts include the formates, acetates, lactates, (thio)cyanates, cyanides, phosphates, phosphites, borates, sulphites, silicates, (bi)carbonates, chromates, fluorides, aluminates, sulphides and iodates; also methane sulphonates, and methane sulphinates, alcoholates and (thio)phenolates. The dyeings on acid modified polyacrylonitrile gives good depths of colour which are fast, esp. to light. In practice, the printing compsn. contg. the cationic dyestuff salt, opt. a binder stable below 230 degrees C, water and/or an organic solvent, is applied onto an inert carrier, dried, and brought into contact with the material to be dyed at 120-210 degrees C/5-60 secs. and opt. under mechanical press. The dyed material is then sepd. from the carrier.
