This drilling head is used for drilling holes whose centre line is at an angle to the main quill rotating centre. This drilling head can be used for drilling holes without resetting the workpiece relative to the machine tool spindle. For this reason it is used in transfer machines for saving time and resetting effort. The drilling head is clamped by a flange to the fixed spindle (1) of the machine tool. The drilling head has internal bevel gears (8, 17) for transmitting rotating movement at an angle to the drill (23). The drill drive shaft is splined and able to slide within the hub of its drive gear. The inclined drilling head is fed into the workpiece by a pinion (27) and the rack (26) in the drilling unit.
