摘要
Wedge jointing of sections (1, 2) of a precast concrete pile shaft embodies longitudinal malleable sleeves (15) forced during the normal driving process into aligned wedge-locking (16, 17) cavities on each abutting pile face. Typically the mating circular end faces of precast cylindrical pile elements incorporate say six cavities disposed symmetrically about the longitudinal axis; each cavity formed of a truncated cone with the larger dia. within and housing a similar shaped solid wedge element (16, 17) (sufficiently reduced in size for insertion). To form a joint section ends are positioned with cavities aligned vertically and a malleable sleeve (15) interposed between each pair, its ends fitting in cavity entrances; driving then ensures whereby the sleeve is forced into the annular wedge shaped gap between the wedge element and the cavity.
