The container for a tape cassette, according to 556 589, in which a simple means is mounted to provide an identification label for the cassette, which can also readily be interchanged. The container has a flat rectangular body in which the cassette fits into a sliding drawer, with a base, front and rear plates and open sides, permitting the cassette to be held by its sides. A spring tends to eject the drawer from the housing and is held by a stop when the drawer is fully inserted. A label can be slipped into a holder on the front of the drawer where it is unlikely to be removed inadvertently, but can readily be exchanged if required.
