The objective is to arrange the room cell units so that the structure, which comprises shaped bars with facade elements, can bridge courtyard entrances, streets, park squares, petrol stations, play areas and similar open spaces. Every room cellular unit (10, 14) formed by the shaped bars, which are pref. welded steel sections, is formed as a self-supporting space cube, the cells being joined together by devices (12, 15) at the corners which are nodal points. These may be slotted (11) plugs (12) welded onto one shaped-section bar passing through an opening in another (13), and secured by a wedge (15). A bridging block (7) may be added to two separate blocks (5, 6) of one or more storeys. Other materials besides steel may be used.
