Dyeing and printing flat-structured textiles, e.g. fabrics and non-wovens, contg. or consisting of keratine or cellulose fibres, by applying sublimatable dyes on a carrier and transfer to textiles by heat and press., takes place by preceding dyeing or printing by a low temp. soln. polycondensation or low temp. contact surface polycondensation, on the textile, between halides of polycarboxylic or polysulphonic acids, as one component, and polyalcohols or opt. aromatic cyclic polyamines as the other component. The process is used pref. for fixing sublimatable azo dispersion dyes with polymer coatings capable of metal complex formation.
