A toy construction set employs moulded elements of plastics material, of a wide variety of shapes including plates, blocks, trays, T members, strips, angles, discs etc., each with a large number of holes through them and the elements are secured together by resilient dowels. The holes (26) have countersunk outer regions (7) and the dowels (4) have split countersunk heads (8), and are removed by a special extractor tool (60). One of the special assemblies is made up of two perforated disc elements with toothed peripheries, and the discs are connected together, spaced apart, by an encircling ring.
