Collecting oil slick from sea water - uses conduit dragged across water surface and trapping floating oil film

The oil slick collecting method from sea water utilizes a conduit-shaped vessel (1) dragged across the liquid surface, resulting in a flow (F) through the conduit and a trapping of an ever increasing depth of the floating film. The inlet for the bi-layered liquid and the outlet (4) for the separated lower layer locate fore and aft of the vessel respectively with the former aligning centrally w.r.t. and parallel to the liquid surface and the latter locating in the vessels base substantially below surface level. The vessel cross sectional area increases w.r.t. distance aft of entry, inducing a deceleration of the flow, and a baffle plate (5) covering and inclined w.r.t. the outlet plane induces a hydro-dynamic depression and reduction of exit vortices, thus enhancing the separation.
