A method of releasing a static charge with a person has acquired from a contact with carpets, etc., consists of a metal block (5) in contact with a suitable metal body (6) and of a metal plate (1) inset into an insulating body (2) attached by a central screw (3) so as to partly enclose the metal block (5) but held from contact by a spring (4). The principal can be used in a door catch where the machine, vehicle etc. may be charged with static electricity.
