Typewriter with automatic underlining - has underlining characters for small and capital letters struck automatically when desired

Automatic underlining is achieved by means of two additional underlining characters, one for normal letters and one for capitals, working with underlying key. One or the other of these characters is automatically struck immediately before or after the character to be underlined. Each of the additional characters can be offset horizontally in the typing direction in relation to the other characters of the machine, to be struck after the one to be underlined, and they can be situated at diametrally opposite points on the key head which carries all the characters. Where the head is placed in position before a character is truck, the additional characters can be moved into the striking position when the remainder are in the rest position.
