Current limiting power switch - has rigid carrier for main and switching moving contacts and magnetic tripping coacting with carrier

The moving contacts, i.e. the switching and the breaking contacts are secured together in a rigid contact carrier, bearing against a switching lever by spring force. The carrier forms with that of the stationary contacts an electrodynamic conductor loop for rapid opening. In the ON state the loop is mostly short circuited by the main contacts, this short circuit being removable by the armature of the electromagnetic trip. Immediately underneath the moving main contact is located an extension of the contact carrier. Under the short circuit current a transmission lever strikes the extendion and first lifts the main moving contact against a partial force of the contact springs from the main stationary contact. Then with the main contact lifted the loop force overcomes the remaining contact spring force resisting the further opening.
