Drilling spindle stock between symmetrically arranged workpieces - uses opposing coaxial drilling spindles for simultaneous mirror image drilling

The combined drilling and milling machine tool is used for drilling of mirror image positioned workpieces which are mounted on workpiece stands on both sides of the spindle stock. The machine tool table accommodates the spindle stock with three pairs of opposing horizontal spindles. On top of this spindle stock is mounted a horizontal transverse beam whose ends accommodate drilling heads with vertical spindles. Workpieces are mounted on stands arranged on both sides of the spindle stock. Longitudinal chassis members may be drilled simultaneously into right and left handed versions in a single clamping and machining operation. Turret heads can be used for rapid tool change and rotating fixtures for manipulating workpieces.
