Bipod for supporting long rotatable firearms - has two clamping jaws for holding firearm barrel and two arms for ground contact

The bipod arrangement has a pivot so that the whole arrangement resembles a pair of tongues. The jaws have circular pads for holding the firearm barrel. When the arms are spread apart the jaws move inwards for clamping. Clamping force is provided by a spring mounted on the pivot pin. The jaws have loose pads which are held in position by the frame of the jaws. These loose inserts act as a spherical joint when the barrel is clamped in the jaws. This arrangement allows free swivelling movement of the barrel in the bipod. The arms of the bipod have telescopic members for adjusting the height of the arrangement. The lower ends of these arms are connected to ground gripping pads.
