The circuit comprises operand registers and adders, whereby the operands contain digits and signs. Coding circuits between the adder inputs and the operand registers, identify the signs and convert them to a code which does not affect the adder contents. The coding circuits pref. consist of AND circuits and OR circuits. In multiplication and division of decimal operands with signs on the right of the figures there arises the case that a figure with a sign will be coupled, for example, in moving to the left an operand and addition to the intermediate result. In such a case the signs must be interpreted as figure O.
