The miniaturised ultra-short-wave tunnel-diode amplifier has an LC resonant circuit tuned to the centre frequency and coupled in parallel with the tunnel diode over a resistor and d.c. blocking capacitor. A second LC resonant circuit is coupled across the diode and blocking capacitor, and is also tuned to the centre frequency. the inductors in both resonant circuits are constructed from thin, printed-circuit conductors. The whole structure is formed compactly on one p.c. board sandwich with the tunnel diode at the centre of the elements forming the resonant circuits.
