After each stroke the piston is returned by a handle which slides parallel to the barrel contng. the piston, to the handle is attached a claw which engages behind the piston. The claw is moved out of the barrel at the beginning of its stroke by hinging upward, or else by the alternative means of turning the handle through 90 deg. to move the claw into a recess. The handle also ejects the spent cartridge from its tapered recess.
