Book block binding method - slits formed over has edge of the book block extending inwards and inclined towards each other

Production method for the final rebinding of a block consisting of book pages along one of its edges. A number of pairs of slits are formed over the whole edge of the book block with the pairs of slits extending inwards inclined towards each other and limiting a swallow tail. The whole edge is stitched prior to binding by yarn led crossways over the surface of the swallowtail. The operation includes staged stitching over the stitching yarn. The yarn thus needs to only be hooked over and between the tail-like projections, and is finished by passing right around a block of projections.
