Cu, Ni, Co and Zn are selectively, extracted from aqs acidic solns by (a) passing through; (b) eluting the exchanger and passing the eluate contg. Cu, Ni and part of Co and Zn contents through a second exchanger to remove the Cu; (c) subjecting the soln, passing through the exchanger which contains all the Ni and part of the Zn and Co contents to an oxidation hydroxide pptn and recycling the Co (III) hydroxide mud to the starting soln, and (d) subjecting the soln from (c) to either total pptn. and working-up of the product by pyrometallurgical method or subjecting to a liq-liq. extraction. (e). The soln remaining from (a) and contg. major Zn and Co content undergoes an oxidative hydroxide pptn to produce Co (III) hydroxide mud and a Zn-contg. soln.
