The accelerator uses a gas, which is supplied to the water at a small excess pressure, but at a lower temperature than that of the water. The gas is fed into a region of equal or increasing flow pressure. The heaters are positioned opposite to, and/or behind the gas inlet aperture. The gas outlets are positioned in the walls of a conical nozzle section facing away from the direction of flow, within a nozzle section tapering in the same direction but to a less degree. The nozzle is held by three hollow struts which carry the incoming gas.
