Multichannel central television aerial system - avoids excessive cable loss or cost of individual VHF and UHF converters

The method enables fewer VHF/UHF converters to be used by local placement to serve a number of outlets. Converters are used because of the high loss in coaxial cable with UHF signals. The system has VHF signals distributed in the normal manner. UHF signals are converted to VHF signals and are added to the VHF distribution. The outlets are fed from spurs from compensated line amplifiers. The VHF channels carrying UHF converted signals are filtered off, reconverted to UHF signals and added to the VHF signals on the spurs at each line amplifier, which has a UHF rejection filter at its input. The UHF signals are thus regenerated at each line amplifier.
