Gas stream can be split by baffles up the tower having breaks and weir arrangements for liquor to pass or separate towers used with means of liquor transfer between them. If liquor stream is split, two sets of downcomers arranged at 90 degrees can be employed feeding alternate trays. Trays can be bubble cap, sieve or slot type.
