The press has a fixed table and a moving slide. An eccentric disc and a flywheel are mounted on the drive-shaft, and a thrust-block with a circular hole surrounds the eccentric; this thrust block function as a pendulum, rocking about an axis, with its bottom surface located on a bearing face. The radius of curvature of the bearing-face corresponds with the distance from the axis of the pendulum. Counter-balancing can be achieved by mounting a weight over the axis of the pendulum. The acceleration and impact velocity are lower than with conventional press and thus this type of press is very suitable for shaping and extrusion operations.
