Manganese-zinc ferrite for mfg. sound-and video heads - has high density and initial permeability

Mixt. of pulverulent starting materials (48-65 mole % Fe2O3, 15-50 mole % MnO and 0-25 mole % Zn) is presintered at 1150-1300 degrees C; then ground and compressed in the cold; sintered for =30 mins. at =1150 degrees C, subjected at this temp. to a press. of =50 atm. for =30 mins; and rapidly cooled without press. The prod. can be annealed in a protective atmos. at e.g. 1100 degrees C.
