The arrangement is designed to remove from contaminated air or other gas all foreign particles down to the size of aerosols. An improved efficiency has been achieved by a controlled surface charge of the particles. The particles, after being negatively charged, pass a positive field where the laminar flow changes into a turbulent flow by the use of a convex surface followed by a concave surface. The velocity of the media is thereby reduced and this increases the effectiveness of the succeeding precipitating zone.
